Universal Orlando invites you to The Cabin in the Woods

Where is my credit card? I need to book a flight.

Universal Orlando has announced plans to build a giant theme attraction based on the 2012 horror film, The Cabin in the Woods. Not to spoil anything from the film, but our uninformed readers should know: “this isn’t just a cabin in the woods.” You should definitely watch the movie before reading on.

The attraction will be a key component of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 23 celebration. The theme park is working closely with the film’s director, Drew Goddard to add an impressive level of detail to the maze.

As they enter, park-goers will find themselves cast as new recruits in the cabin/facility.  According to an interview with Zap2it, visitors will experience a wholly unique side-story that will link directly with the events of the film. Reportedly, participants will see plenty of sights from the movie, including the creepy, Evil Dead-style woods, a complete model of the cabin itself, and plenty of  “filled cubes.”

Goddard is scripting the experience along with the park, so that gives it a nice air of authenticity. Just as a taste, the visitors will find themselves trapped inside the control room when the Merman finally appears.

Halloween Horror Nights 23 runs from September 20th through November 2nd.  I can only hope they sell weaponized bong mugs in the gift shop.

I haven’t been this excited since I first heard about T2:3D.
