0Candy Japan mails you candy… from Japan!
Crazy-cool Finnish dude Bemmu Sepponen moved to Japan with his wife Nachi and they’ve set up quite an interesting little operation. For a small fee each month they will mail you 2 packages of Japanese candy.
If you’re not familiar with what sweets are like on the other side of the globe, let me tell you: they’re pretty awesome. Japanese candy is much more varied and creative than what you can find in the States.
I love the stuff so much I’ve been saving the wrappers.
For the 6 months or so that I was a subscriber, this service was awesome (since then I’ve had to tighten my wallet and shift into Ramen noodle mode). For those of you who can afford the $23.95 a month, this services comes highly recommended. It’s like getting little presents in the mail. Twice a month it’s your make-believe Japanese birthday!
Pro-tip: You can share the candy with complete strangers to break the ice and make cool new friends! Yes, I have actually met some neat people just by asking, “Hey you, wanna try some weird Japanese candy?”
I’m not a creep, honest. Just a wee bit eccentric.
