0AAC: Another Anime Convention 2012
Warm and fuzzy… and furry?
The letters A.A.C. stand for “Another Anime Convention,” and while that’s quite possibly the most straight forward name we could ask for, I think it sounds a bit modest. AAC is much more than a slightly smaller Anime Convention. It’s a throwback to the earlier days, when the lines were short and the crowds were intimate.
In terms of content, AAC is relatively standard. Industry panels, small workshops, a Masquerade and a rave for good measure. There’s also a dealers room, artist alley and arcade. This is all good stuff but what really sets this convention apart for me is the type of audience it attracts. The New Hampshire anime/geek scene is quite possible my favorite crowd of lovable goofballs. I think it’s amazing that a convention only half the size of Anime Boston and maybe a quarter the size of PAX East can just as awesome. I’ve somehow managed to make more friends at AAC than I have at every other con combined. I don’t know if it’s the tight corridors or extremely high percentage of cos-players, but there is something magic about the AAC vibe.
2012 was an awesome year and I cant wait to see what the Otakus of the White Mountains have in store for us next time.
