The Triumphant Return of Reaper

According to Deadline, the cult classic TV show, Reaper, is making a comeback. FEARnet has licensed the entire two series run of the original CW series and is producing a reunion special with the cast and crew.

I’m not usually a fan of CW shows, but Reaper was an exception.  It was a light horror-comedy about Sam, a college dropout who somehow finds himself working as an unwilling bounty hunter… for Satan. Along with his two best buddies, Sam battled various “monsters of the week.” Each episode is bookended by a meeting with The Devil, played by Ray Wise, an actor that turns everything he touches into solid cheesy gold. He was a perfect devil.

Reaper never quite fit in CW’s wheelhouse. The cult favorite series ran from 2007-2009, but was unceremoniously cancelled just as it was finding its footing. There isn’t any word on whether FEARnet will be producing any new episodes, but there’s certainly more hope than we’ve had before. Besides, in these days of long-dead shows suddenly being resurrected, who knows?

Reaper will premiere June 4 on FEARnet.
